These days, we all have so much multimedia content (videos, audio, picture) around us on many different devices - PCs, TVs, Mobile Phones etc. We're looking for innovative solutions to sharing and managing this content. We're also looking for platforms that offer users and developers chance to have their own input - application stores, user generated content, sharing with friends and family, social networking, etc.

We're looking to move beyond the current generation of user interfaces. To do this, we need elemental technologies to help us achieve this - touchless screens, proximity detection, gesture recognition, voice recognition (including 'speech to text' and 'text to speech'), motion detection, location awareness etc. We're also interested in innovative software to enable these technologies.

We're looking for new ways to send data between consumer electronics devices wirelessly. We're looking for un-compressed transmissions that can be used for all sorts of data between many devices. We also want to here about antenna technologies to compliment these and our other RF requirements such as mobile phones.

Next Generation Display

We'd like to hear about technologies related to displays, from those surrounding the current trends for 3D, OLED, LED backlight, slim dimensions etc; as well as more longer term visions such as whole wall displays and ways to drive super high resolutions or scalable modular systems.

Thermal & Mechanical

Although many people think of LG as an electronics company, we also have a requirement for mechanical technologies in almost all of our products. We need insulation technologies for improving the safety and efficiency of our cooling as well as heating products, technologies to reduce the noise and vibration of appliances with moving parts, high efficiency heaters, high efficiency compressors, motors, inverters, and even technologies to remove the heat from high power LEDs.

One of the business to business areas that LG is involved in is In Car Telematics. In this category, we're looking for fast and eco friendly navigation systems and algorithms, and all kinds of driver assistance systems.

LG wants to help towards maintaining the environment for the future, and we have put in place many initiatives to help achieve this. We're also taking an active role too, and we want to hear about technologies for environmentally friendly energy generation and storage. New technologies such as printable solar cells, wind generation, high capacity batteries, fuel cells, and anything else that fits into this category.

LG is looking for next generation technologies that will take surveillance to the next level. This includes storage technology such as compression codecs, content recognition and tracking, pattern analysis, unusual activity detection systems etc.

Healthcare is obviously a big topic, and we're interested in everything related to it. Examples include mobile and in home monitoring, non-invasive testing, patient diagnosis, health tracking, point of care testing (POCT), medical imaging systems etc. We're also interested in technologies that help to maintain a healthy life, such as air quality management solutions, water filtration and treatment solutions.
